Autumn 1 Week 4

Date: 26th Sep 2024 @ 4:12pm

In Literacy this week we have been reading the story ‘Kindness makes us Strong’ by Sophie Beer. There is an attached video if you would like to listen to it at home. We have been focusing on celebrating kindness within the classroom for example by sharing toys, letting our friends play, taking turns and helping each other.

In 'Squiggle While you Wiggle' this week we have been putting our 'up and down' and 'side to side' movements together to make a pattern; whilst booging along to 'Dancing Queen' by Abba. We have attached a picture to show you what we have been drawing. We have been practising making these patterns in different sizes.

In R.E this week we read the Creation story from the Bible and learnt that Christians believe that God created the wonderful world that we live in. We looked inside our Chatterbox at some of the things that God created in seven days. We listened to and joined in with the song ‘He’s got the whole world in His hands.

We have been working hard during dough disco this week warming up and developing our hand muscles by patting, rolling, prodding and squishing the dough as we boogied along to Music.

In Maths we have continued our learning about collections of objects. We went on a walk around the school to compare collections e.g. there was lots of leaves on the floor outside, there was a few cones on the treehouse, there was one chair in the Early Years Garden. The children then had a go at making their own collections describing and comparing whether their piles of objects had the same amount or whether one had more or fewer.

Our reading for pleasure book this week is ‘Owl Babies’ so we have been exploring different feathers in the classroom and we have had a go at painting using feathers as a tool.

Thank you so much for all of the lovely family photographs we enjoyed sharing them with our friends in class during circle time whilst describing who is special to us.
