Welcome to the Arts Council page!

2022-2023

In September 2022, we started our very first pupil led Arts Council, here at Canon Burrows Primary School.

Children in Years 1 - 6 were asked to submit their interest to be part of the council, by filling in a manifesto.

In total, 12 children were chosen to form our first Arts Council.

Their very important job is to work as a team in order to come up with ideas on how we can improve how all of the arts subjects are taught at our school, with their meetings being under the guidance of Miss Matthews.

Good luck to our new Arts Council - we cannot wait to see what you come up with in order to support the teaching of art.

Monday 21st November - Trip to Astley Cheetham Art Gallery

We had a fantastic time at the art gallery! We saw an exhibition of photographs taken from local artists and also artists in Sweden. We had a chance to look around the gallery and read all the information. We also saw artefacts from Ancient Egypt.

The curator of the gallery, Alex, gave us a talk and then showed us some pieces of artwork from their collection. We saw artwork that was 600 years old! 

We saw the work of Harry Rutherford, William Turner and also work from the Italian Renaissance.

We loved our trip to the gallery and we have been invited back when the new exhibition is on show.
