Autumn 1 Week 5

Date: 3rd Oct 2024 @ 8:50pm

As part of our Literacy learning this week linked with the story ‘Kindness makes us Strong,’ we made some chocolate chip cookies. We made one for ourselves and one to give to a friend or a family member as a special act of kindness. We hope they enjoyed them!

This week we have been busy learning the poem ’10 Little Fingers, 10 Little Toes’. We performed our poem in front of the whole school today as part of our annual Poetry X-Factor competition. The children spoke so clearly and amazed the whole school with their courage and confidence!

In R.E this week we thought about how our names are another example of how we are special and unique. We learned that God has our names written on the palms of his hands (Isaiah 49:16) and that this means He holds us close, we are special to Him and He loves us. We all decorated our own names and looked at how they were all different but special.

As part of our Phonics learning this week we went on a listening walk around school and the school grounds to see what we could hear. We listened to the sounds of cars, the wind, music playing, the water in the sink, pots clanging in the schools kitchens, hand dryers in the bathrooms and the sound of birds.

In Maths we have been learning how to explore and build with shapes and objects. We have been using blocks and bricks to create towers and houses comparing the sizes of objects using the language ‘big’, ‘bigger’, ‘small’ and ‘smaller’.
