Autumn 1 Week 6

Date: 11th Oct 2024 @ 9:07am

In R.E this week we reminded ourselves of the Creation story and how God made the world and everything in it for us to enjoy and share. We learned that at Harvest time, people all around the world say thank you to God for all that He has given them, especially food. We learned a new ‘Thank You’ prayer that we will say at snack time.

We made fruit salads using fruits from the UK and around the world. We learned where they came from and why they can grow there.

Our reading for pleasure story this week is ‘Leaf Man’ by Lois Ehlert so we have enjoyed trying to create our own ‘Leaf Man’ out of leaves we have collected whilst playing outside.

Our Rhyme Time song this week is ‘Hey Diddle Diddle’. We have been learning what a fiddle is and we have enjoyed creating our own musical instruments using carboard boxes and elastic bands.

In Squiggle While you Wiggle we have been practising the ‘wiggle’ pattern. The children particulary enjoyed dancing along to this pattern but found it a little bit tricky to draw the curved shape you can see in the picture attached.

In Maths we have been comparing objects and sorting objects by size using the language ‘big, ‘small’, ‘bigger’ and ‘smaller’. We have been working with our friends to complete jigsaw puzzles. We explored rotating and flipping the pieces to make them fit.

In PSHE this week we have been continuing to think about different emotions. We used mirrors to practise making different faces to show the different emotions. We then practised some happy breathing by doing some belly breathing. To do this we placed a teddy on our tummies, laid down, listened to some relaxing music and tried to relax whilst we thought about the teddies rising up and down with each breath.
