Autumn 2 Week 1

Date: 7th Nov 2024 @ 4:33pm

Welcome back, we hope you had a wonderful half term and managed to enjoy all of the wonderful celebrations of Halloween, Diwali and Bonfire Night as a family.

This week Nursery have enjoyed making and eating some yummy chocolate apples as part of their learning about Bonfire Night traditions and how to stay safe. The children really enjoyed sharing their experiences of watching fireworks or going to see a bonfire.

For English our topic book for the next few weeks is ‘Real Superheros’ by Julia Seal. We will be learning about lots of different occupations over the next few weeks and about how different people help us within the community.

In phonics we have introduced our first sound of the week ‘s’. To support your child to pronounce the sound, say “Show your teeth and and let the s hiss out ssssss ssssss”. We have also been playing lots of fun games to support us hearing the initial sounds in our name.

This week the children enjoyed a P.E session with our school Sports coaches. They all really enjoyed learning
how to move their bodies in different ways; running, jumping and moving like different animals.

In Maths we have been continuing learning about repeated patterns by joining in with the repetition within songs, the repetitive refrains within stories and having a go at making some two colour repeated patterns. We found repeated patterns a little bit tricky this week so we’ll keep practising this next week.

As it is the first week of a new half term we have been re-visiting our class rules as part of our PSHE learning and thinking about our emotions again using our Zones of regulations colours.

In Music we have been exploring playing instruments fast and slowly whilst singing along to the song ‘If you’re happy and you know it play it……..’ We have also really enjoyed moving our body to the song ‘Well you walk and you walk’ whilst practising our listening skills of stopping when asked.
