Autumn 2 Week 2
Date: 13th Nov 2024 @ 9:37pm
This week the Nursery children have learnt what Remembrance Day is and how we wear poppies to commemorate the soldiers who have served our country. The children took part in a minutes silence and have also painted their own poppies and made some poppy collages in the craft area.
In phonics, we have focused on our new sound ‘a’. To support your child to pronounce the sound at home, say “Open your mouth wide and make the a sound at the back of your mouth a a a”. There is an astronaut picture attached which will support your child to recognise the sound. We have also been thinking about what letter our names all begin with.
As this week is Anti-bullying week we have been looking at the book ‘Have you filled a bucket today’. We have been thinking about the things we can do to spread happiness and show kindness to our friends to ‘fill up their bucket’. We have made pictures for our friends in class, friendship bracelets, and some salt dough stars to give to someone special in our family to ‘fill up their bucket with happiness’. It is such a lovely story and concept to help the children understand how their actions affect others so I have attached the video for you to watch aswel.

In Maths we have continued our learning on repeated patterns. We have been finding different ways of creating our own repeated patterns with objects, colours and by painting them.
In Music we have been practising our musicality skills by dancing with scarves to music, exploring how the music makes us feel and how it makes us want to move our bodies.
In Squiggle while you wiggle we have been boogying along to ‘Rhythm is a dancer’ practising the ‘hump left and right’. This mark is a rainbow shape so we have been using our mark making skills to also help us create some beautiful rainbows.
