Autumn 2 Week 4
Date: 29th Nov 2024 @ 9:29am
The Nursery children have shown our Christian value of compassion this week by making some bird feeders after reading the book 'How to help Rory the garden bird'. We then went on a lovely welly walk to hang their bird feeders in the school grounds and to put some water out for the wildlife. We were very excited to spot some magpies eating the bird food we left for them!
Thank you for all of the lovely angels you have been buisy making for your homework, they are absolutely beautiful and we have been busy making some in class aswel. We will be posting them in the community next week, we hope they bring a smile to lots of our families faces within the community.
In R.E this week we heard the story of Jesus walking on water. We saw how Peter showed courage and trust when he walked on the water to Jesus and how Jesus showed love and compassion by saving him from sinking. We made objects that float and sink. We found the miracle on the Gospel panel of the Big Frieze and learned the song ‘With Jesus in the boat, we can smile through the storm’ to help us remember how God keeps us safe and looks after us when life is scary.
This week in Maths we have been practising counting to 10 if different ways by counting in silly voices, counting actions with our bodies and singing counting rhymes.
In English we have been looking at the verbs within the story of ‘When you’re fast asleep’ by creating actions to go with them. We have been learning about different people who help us within provision by dressing up as doctors, dentists and policemen.
For Phonics, we have focused on our new sound ‘p’. We have attached the picture card that matches the sound. To support your child to pronounce the sounds correctly say "bring you lips together, push them open and say p p p".
In PSHE this week we have been thinking about our Character strengths and celebrating these within class through looking at the story of ‘Charlie’s rainbow adventure’. The character strengths are;
· Love and kindness
· Teamwork and friendship
· Bravery and honesty
· Love of life and our world
· Exploring and learning
We also worked on some Happy Breathing using our 'lazy 8 sheet' to help us focus on breathing in and out,
During Dough Disco we have been developing and strengthening our hand muscles by manipulating and squishing the dough. I have attached some of the songs we have been dancing along to this week incase you want to have a go at any at home together.

In Squiggle while you wiggle we have been focusing on ‘split the hump’ whilst boogying along to MMMBop. We are getting really good at doing our ‘over the hump’ marks now, however we found ‘split the hump’ a little bit trickier.
