Autumn 2 Week 5
Date: 5th Dec 2024 @ 12:10pm
The Nursery children have enjoyed taking part in some Santa's Little Helpers Challenges this week. We listened to a special message from Santa, discovered what our elf names are and we helped the elves by creating some special elf hats, gift tags, Christmas decorations and a paper chain. We had so much fun!
In R.E this week we have been thinking about Christmas traditions and how people celebrate Christmas. We worked together to decorate our class Christmas tree and opened our first Advent Calendar doors which the children made for their homework. We have enjoyed making our friends wishes come true by dancing, singing Christmas songs and playing nicely with our friends.
The Nursery children had a very exciting visitor this week! The children gave Santa the wish lists they'd worked hard to write and Santa brought all of the children a tasty treat!
We have been looking at the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man’ as our reading for pleasure text and we have been joining in with the repetitive refrains in the story. Within provision we have been counting pom poms onto the Gingerbread Men, playing with ginger and cinnamon scented playdough, designing our own Gingerbread Men and making our own Gingerbread biscuits.
In Maths we have been focusing on counting objects using 1-1 correspondence and showing numbers on our fingers.
We had a lovely morning on Thursday posting our beautiful angels around our local community. We hope they put a smile on everyone's faces and spread the message of love hope and joy.
In Phonics, we have focused on our new sound ‘i’. We have attached the picture card that match the sounds. To support your child to pronounce the sounds correctly say "bring you lips together, push them open and say p p p" or “Pull your lips back and make the i sound at the back of your mouth ii i”
**Date to remember**- Just a little reminder that next Tuesday 10th we have our lovely Christmas theatre show and Christmas crafts session for the Nursery parents which we would love for you to attend. We will also have a few new children attending who will be joining us in January.
