Autumn 2 Week 6

Date: 12th Dec 2024 @ 9:48pm

A huge thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who came to watch our Nursery Christmas theatre show on Monday and stayed for some crafty Christmas fun. It was such a lovely festive morning and the children had a fantastic time!

As part of the children's learning about why Post Men/ Women are special and what they do for their job, the Nursery children have listened to the story of 'The Jolly Christmas postman' and walked to our local post box to post their beautiful Christmas cards home. They are very excited to see the Post Man deliver them!

We have also been very busy this week practising our Christmas carols ready for our Christmas sing-a-long performance next week. We are super excited to perform for you!

In Phonics we have been looking at the letter ‘n’. We have been looking at different objects beginning with the initial sound.

In Maths we have continued to focus on our counting skills and showing different numbers on our fingers.

This week, we heard the Christmas story for the first time. First, we opened the Chatterbox and talked about what was inside - a birth congratulations card, a birthday cake candle, a happy birthday banner, a present and a Christmas card. We talked about what birthdays are and then we thought about how we celebrate our birthdays (with cake, a party and presents) and how we feel on our birthdays (happy and excited).

We heard that Christmas day is Jesus’s birthday and thought about how Christmas celebrations are similar to birthday celebrations because we have cake and presents. We enjoyed playing with our Nativity scene and retelling this with our friends!

We finished the week off with our Christmas party day! What a fabulous, festive week in Nursery!
