Digging up the potatoes
Date: 5th Jul 2019 @ 9:16pm
Today children from the reception class, Years 1, 2, 3 & 5 dug up the potatoes we planted in the spring.
Sorry year groups that were missed but we ran out of time to have more helpers and I am afraid the younger children had such a great time there were not many potatoes left to lift after they had finished!
Children from year five helped out and were an excellent support showing the diggers from early years how to dig, where to look, and explaining all about the potatoes.
Our crop was probably a litte better than last year, we filled two buckets. All the children were surprised to see how red the Duke of York poatoes were. The King Edwards were perhaps a little bigger but were the colour we expected, a pale white.
The dug spuds have been left for the ladies in the kitchen to cook for everyone next week so .............. make sure you look out next to see how they have been cooked for your school dinner! Enjoy
