SAW Week

Year 1 have had a very exciting SAW week. They have enjoyed learning all about the Scientist Mary Anning and about all of her amazing work on fossils. We acted out the story of 'Stone Girl, Bone Girl' and then thought of questions we would like to ask her.

We have been exploring fossils in the classroom like paleontologists and using them to do some observational drawing.

We have been looking at ammonites in particular and at the spiral pattern on them which we have used as part of our Art learning creating ammonite sculptures out of Salt Dough and making spiral patterns outside with natural art inspired by the artist Anthony Goldsworthy.
