Spring 2 Week 3
Date: 14th Mar 2025 @ 9:33am
In Maths this week the children have been focusing on using positional language correctly to describe where an object is e.g. the teddy is on the table, under the chair, next to the box, in the box. To help us learn some directional words we have enjoyed taking part in a daily obstacle course going through tunnels, over stepping stones, under bridges and around cones whilst developing our gross motor skills. We have had lots of fun!
Today we said goodbye to our little Chicks. We have loved having them in the classroom and the children have been so kind and caring looking after them showing our Christian value of responsibility. They have helped us to gain a really good understanding of the life cycle of a hen.
We have been practicing our painting skills this week creating some beautiful pictures of the chicks. The children are making so much progress with their drawing skills by adding and naming the features they are drawing or painting.
This week in R.E we heard the sad part of the Easter story - Good Friday. We learned why Jesus said the bread was His body and the wine was His blood - because He died and He wanted his followers to remember Him. Next week we will hear the happy ending of the story and find out why it is called Good Friday. We looked at several Crosses and found one on the Big Frieze. We saw how it led to the colourful paint pots we saw in the Creation story. God used Jesus’s death as a way for us to have a happy ending. The Cross reminds Christians of Jesus’s sacrifice. We then used our collage skills to decorate and create our own colourful crosses.
In Phonics we have been focusing on the letter ‘u’ this week and we have been looking at rhyming words finding objects that have the same ending such as;
· cat, bat, hat, rat
· dog, log, hog, frog
· cake, rake, snake
· snail, whale, pail,
· tree, three, tipee, bee
Our Nursery rhyme for this week has been ‘Baa Baa Black Sheep’ and our poem for the week was called ‘Hungry Birdies’.
· Hungry Birdies
· I have built a little nest,
· look inside, look inside.
· Hungry birdies with their beaks,
· open wide, open wide.
· And the little birdies grow,
· day by day by day.
· ‘Till they spread their wings and fly,
· far away, far away.
We still need two more adults to support us on our trip to Joseph Jennings so if you are available to join us then please let me know. Have a lovely weekend everybody!
