Spring 2 Week 5
Date: 28th Mar 2025 @ 9:21am
On Monday the Nursery children made some yummy Easter cornflake cakes. They worked on their fine motor skills breaking the chocolate into pieces and took it in turns to stir the cornflakes and melted chocolate and to scoop them into cupcake cases. They then decorated them with some yummy mini eggs.
On Tuesday we visited the residents at Joseph Jennings Care Home again. The children took with them some Easter cards and cakes they had made for them and together they enjoyed creating some lovely Easter crafts. It was such a lovely morning full of fun and laughter. We are excited to go and see them again next half term to celebrate VE day with them.
This week for the Nursery children’s Maths learning we went on a pattern hunt around school. The children were fantastic pattern spotters and found spots, stripes, picture patterns, shape patterns and patterns in nature.
In Phonics we have been looking at the letter ‘h’, finding things that begin with that sound, and practising our segmenting and blending skills to follow instructions e.g. what sound does a ‘d-u-ck’ make or a ‘sh-ee-p?’ Our Nursery rhyme for this week has been ‘A sailor went to sea sea sea’.
In English we have been learning about the story ‘Noisy Farm’ by Rod Campbell ready for our trip to the farm next week and we have enjoyed singing along to the nursery rhyme ‘Old Macdonald had a farm’.
To finish our R.E topic for Easter, we had a discussion about love. We read the story ‘Guess how much I love you’ and reflected on the following questions;
What is love?
Where is love?
Who do you love?
Who loves you?
How do you show love?
We then heard how Jesus dying on the Cross showed that He loved us so much that He would die for us so that we can be with God in Heaven.
We have also been very busy making your beautiful Mothers Day cards, exploring making marks with paint and practising writing our names. We hope like them and that you all have a wonderful Mothers Day weekend!
