Year Six Eco team Outdoor session October 11th

On Saturday 6th October there was a team of tree surgeons in school cutting back and pruning trees and overhanging branches. The mulched, treated bark was left in the back playground and this weeks environmental management team from year six had the task of moving the bark. 

The children were aware that the bark in the infant garden was in need of improving so we decided to move the bark and place it around the play areas to make them safe and also around a selection of shrubs to protect them from frost and retain moisture around their roots.  

The group worked hard and all the bark got moved. With some help from the reception children! The infant garden areas are now safer and lots of plants will be able to withstand winter better.
